FRAUD ALERT- payment breach

Jun 2 2024 notified of a fraudulent debit attempt from my bank so I closed the debit card immediately. I do not use my debit card in public EVER for this exact reason. However, ATT said I would get $10 credit if I used my debit card to pay my bill. The only time I have ever used my debit card other than at an ATM. Against better judgment, I added my debit card to my autopay and barely 3 weeks later, my debit card is compromised. I know ATT had a breach in April 2024, but IT IS NOT FIXED. I have changed back to using a credit card. A $10 credit is not worth the world having access to my bank account. FIX IT ATT.

The AT&T breach was in June of 2019.

AT&T was either unaware of the breach in 2019, or did not notify its customers until 2024

Autopay and paperless billing on a plan with a structure that provides a discount, provides a $10 discount if you use a debit card or checking account. If you use a credit card the discount is $5

Yes, I realize that. My post was to warn others that ATT payment methods are not secure. I'll continue use the credit card for $5 credit so at least I won't have my banking information compromised.

Credit companies are better and easier at reversing unauthorized access.

Are you sure the "fraudulent debit" wasn't actually your AT&T payment? If this is really the first time you've ever used it as a form of payment, your bank might have flagged it since it's unusual usage.

Yes I'm sure. It was for a fake domain in the UK. I'm in the USA.

Jessica at ATTHELP-

I tried calling and was asked "What would you like us to do about this?" I responded that the security team should be advised that the payment servers are still breached. Jeff told me to go a website att.custhelp.com to report it. I went there and it said to call ATT customer service. Full circle.

This forum seems to be the only way to get the word out that ATT payment servers continue to be breached and customers using debit cards and banking information in autopay should be advised.

Payment information was not affected by the breach AT&T disclosure in March.

There's either more to the story or you were caught in the most unfortunate coincidence.

That's not how any of this worked. Again the breach happened in June of 2019 and account information was acquired

I was still a customer in June of 2019. But my account is closed so my information doesn't do them any good..
