How do you file a complaint against AT&T billing practices?

I called AT&T in 9/2021 to cancel my services & have my number ported to a different carrier. The rep assisted me through the process. I take responsibility for not noticing sooner but I just realized today 1/16/2022 that I was still being charged $70+ a month starting in October. I called customer service and was told the rep only canceled my phone line & not the lines for my tablet & watch. I questioned this because I specifically told the rep I wanted to cancel my services. AT&T stance is there is nothing they can do about it other than cancel those lines now so I won't get any future charges. I want to know why I have to pay for their rep negligence or misinterpretation?

File an FCC or BBB complaint. The complaint will get you a response from corporate.

Just an FYI, it is universal practice that you not cancel service for phones because you cannot port a phone number out that is inactive and canceled.

    If you want to cancel service on non phone numbers you have to specifically indicate you want to cancel service on the tablet line and watch line.

   There is absolutely no reason to inform the carrier that you plan on canceling service on your phone lines if your intention is to Port those phone numbers to a different service provider.

As per the Terms of Service, customers are limited to Binding Arbitration.

You can sue AT&T for overcharging you. If you're paying more than agreed for an AT&T service, you may be able to file a claim in small claims court. You can sue AT&T for unreliable service in small claims court.

@Antonelli

You can sue AT&T for unreliable service in small claims court.

Um, no.   All carriers have service disclaimers for a reason.   Coverage is not guaranteed.  Therefore "reliability" is not something any carrier can be required to provide.  It's 100% on us customer to change service providers if "reliability" is not to ones standards.

    Costs and how to cancel are something in print and the policy and procedure should be  followed.

   Arbitration or small claims can take months, up to a year, and has a 50/50 success rate.   A better business Bureau complaint usually gets results in a couple days.

In any case, one has to prove fault on at&t. In the OPs case, that she did call and cancel her tablet and watch line.

She could have ported her numbers out with her new carrier to assure they were canceled.  For the sake of $140, a BBB complaint is more efficient
