Suspicious unit signed me up for ATT

When I inquired about getting a package for new  home fiber internet and wireless, I ended up speaking to someone in Miami even though I live in California. They said they worked on bundles for home fiber and could get me a great rate, which Adrian quoted as $80 after speaking with his manager Matt. This was for unlimited wireless and first tier fiber which I was told would be enough for my new apartment. I gave him the order and began receiving emails to verify various things. I thought it was a little bit strange that in order to reach the salesman Adrian I had to call back his manager's cell phone which is still the only contact I have for him. At one point his manager Matt was out sick so I was given the cell phone number of his temporary fill in manager. But Adrian was calling me back and assuring me everything was on track.

I became suspicious when an attempt to reply to their emails got my new AT&t account blocked by security. I called and they told me this had something to do with needing my SIM card sent to my old address because I hadn't moved into the new apartment yet, it had triggered my account being blocked on the internet so I needed to use the app. Signing into the AT&t app I did see that they had correctly signed me up for 300 Mbps fiber and unlimited wireless with no prices posted yet. They had me go to the local store near my old address to sign up and get my SIM card and said they would adjust the rate later on their end.

I have moved into the new apartment which had the internet turned on and am using the new phone service,  and now the charges have appeared on My ATT as $126 for the wireless, while the internet shows it was canceled even though it is still turned on and functioning as we speak. I don't know if this is a mistake withthe bundle not being properly separated or adjusted, or prorated for the last half May, so I tried calling the number that they gave me.

When I try to call the phone number I was given to reach Adrian by leaving a message on the cell phone of his manager Matt last week, I  reached Matt who said he would look into it. When it did not change for another week with the due date fast approaching, I called back again and I'm am unable to reach him. I have left several messages pleading with him to return my call about the promised rate not being met and why the home internet now says it's canceled on the My ATT billng even though it's turned on. I last told him that I'm afraid I am being scammed as a senior citizen and am going to make inquiries to AT&t which is why I posted this. I am also told by the local senior advocacy to report this to the California attorney general and local consumer authorities, but I want to wait to see if there just might be a simple mistake from an actually legitimate unit in AT&t I was told by customer service do exist to make such deals.

If it's a scam the strange thing is that they were able to place the order, I did get the cell service which is working fine, and the fiber internet was on and working when I moved in. They did not ask for any payment or credit card information although I think I gave Adrian my social and birth date for credit check which he said I passed instantly. I am watching my accounts to see if anything strange is posted.

Can someone help tell me  what is happening here, and what exactly I should do. In the beginning I did call AT&t's support number and they told me that I was probably talking to a back office which makes deals with new customers. I should have inquired more specifically about this one. What exactly should I do now?

It takes three billing cycles (90 days) for credits to start… you pay full rate till then…

Internet $60 with bundled receiving $20 off for $40, additional $5 off if setup paperless billing and autopay.
The rest would be for phone / service.

so $35 for your internet, I see no way that your wireless is going to be $55 making the total $80 a month. Not if you are required to have unlimited starter which looks like the minimum plan.

I suppose it's possible a 25% discount for being a teacher, doctor, nurse, or other first responder might apply to the starter plan.  That would reduce the $65 plan to $48 and change, add back the taxes required. And of course if you bought a new phone, any bill credits on the new phone definitely take 90 days to kick in. Autopay and paperless billing discount for wireless is stackable with other discounts for employer/signature discount program. Autopay and paperless billing discount of $10 per phone line requires a debit card or checking account otherwise it's cut in half with a credit card to only $5

I spoke with ATT internet support who said the account appears completely different on their end, with internet up and running at $55 which will be reduced within a few billing cycles by $20 bundling discount.  Wireless looks to them like Value Plan Plus at $60 but with possible discounts applied by the bundlers could conceivably come down to $80 after paperless billing discount.   I just need to wait a few months and pay the higher rates until the discounts are applied and then the system will credit me for any overpayments.  Does this sound right to you?

I still cannot access on the internet att.net which gets a connection refused message that started when they blocked my first wireless order placed by the bundlers, which they said was due to wanting SIM card sent to old address before I'd moved to new one - requiring me to go into store to do that.  This and failing to return my calls any longer has left a bad taste about the third party bundlers who never gave me anything in writing and were accessible only through their manager's cell phone.  But that will go away if the price originally quoted comes through in a few months.

Okay just to confirm you did not buy a phone? The value plus plan is not eligible for phone promotions because it doesn't meet the minimum "unlimited data plan with a cost for one line of $75 value before discounts"

With auto-pay and paperless billing discount using a debit card or checking account The value plus plan is only 50 bucks

No, I didn't buy a phone.   The last I heard before the bundlers stopped returning my call are that it was $35 for the fiber after $20 discount for having wireless; and then $55 for the wireless, but reduced by $10 total for having auto-pay.  The store confirmed this, which means I am hoping to see my bill reduced to the promised $80 after a few months of paying the higher figure.  My remaining question is what major corporation would think they can get away with doing business this way?  There is no business model taught in any business school that tells millions of customers that they should pay higher rates for a few months until they get around to applying promised discounts, nor is there any legit business model that uses third party bundlers who won't give written quotes, only receive calls via leaving a message on their manager's cell phone, set up SIM card mailing to my old address (because I haven't moved yet) which triggers the system to cancel the order and (still) block me out of the web portal, then sends me to store to get the SIM, and then stop responding when I try to clarify what the bill actually says.   Who does business this way?  I asked my friend who is dean of a major University business school and he replied "a company that will be bought by one of the other majors who do business more straightforwardly."

I say so often, read the bill.  What's on it?

What isn't correct?

1.   Are you paying your bill on autopay with a debit card or checking account in order to get the $10 discount for auto pay and paperless billing?

2   Are you on the value plus plan?

Yes and yes.  I finally got a call back from the bundler manager who said the activation charge would drop off, the $20 credit on fiber for having wireless would kick in as well, and the other charges should be adjusted down to $81-86.

Has it been more than 90 days since you switched over? If not, it's too early to expect all of the credits
