Tax exemption

I’m trying to request refunds for taxes paid at a retail store. My husband and I have both tried multiple times at art.com/taxexempt.

File a BBB complaint. That will get you escalated to someone who can help.

Hi @Ginahouze, let's get you pointed in the right direction to request refunds for taxes paid at a retail store.

Use the tax exemption web tool to check eligibility, and to apply for a tax exemption.

Let us know if this helps, and thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community Forum.

@ATTHelp That was the link OP said wasn't working. It's not working for me, either.

It's working for me and it states:

Tax Exemptions are not added until a valid certificate is received and processed

Did you let the store know before the purchase that it was a tax exempt purchase? Does your state instruct you to receive a refund from the retailer (rather than from the state) on purchases that have already been finalized.

I have made purchases for tax exempt organizations in the past and we had to have (at least in Texas) a tax exempt ID number at the time of purchase.

No one is going to take your word that you are tax exempt without some sort of documentation.

The website https://prod-taxexempt.att.com/tax_exmp-web/OpenHome.action  pops up with a 403 Forbidden warning, and traffic is being blocked to that site by AT&T.  AT&T needs to fix this problem since the url above is what AT&T hands out.

When a search is done and the results show the tax exempt department, the tax exempt web tool links to the following web site:

Discover the Latest Phones, Devices, Unlimited Data Plans, Internet & TV at AT&T (att.com)

AT&T is diverting traffic away from the tax exempt department so that we cannot access anything useful.

This needs to be fixed immediately.

AT&T doesn't benefit from diverting anyone from filing as tax exempt, so there's no conspiracy. File a BBB complaint to get escalated to someone who can bypass the "official" channels.
