What are "Bytes up" and "Bytes down" in data usage
In the data usage portion of my bill, there is a column for Bytes up and a column for Bytes down. I have been told that there can be data usage even when it is not initiated by the cell phone user. How does that happen? And how would there be both Bytes up and Bytes down.
Also, if a transaction has over 600,000 Bytes up and more than 10,000,000 Bytes down, could that be a transaction that the user did not initiated -- that was just initiated by the network?

It was initiated by the phone. I could be an update to an app, or refreshing notifications. As for up vs down. Let's say you upload a video to YouTube. It's up from your phone to YouTube. You watch s

Is there some literature I can read that explains how I can be sure it was initiated by the phone?

Google is really your friend here. You can find more websites than you can count that will explain this. And the network cant initiate anything. its just a connection. A website, or a device has to initiate it. Its like how a road cant physically transport you. You need a car to do so. The network is the road in this case.
